SO FAR AWAY

Dates: December 7 - December 28

Artist: Julia Monté

Julia Monté is a sculptor in Seattle who is particularly enchanted by stilted highway scenes and the structures that hold up mass communal experiences. The work she makes emulates the architecture of stadiums, overpasses, parking garages and other exaggerated mechanisms for ascending upwards and organizing crowds. She utilizes reclaimed material to construct her work, a practice which she pursued further during her time at the King County Recology Artist In Residence program this past summer.

Her solo exhibit So Far Away at Eight
Roses Gallery features work from her time at Recology, as well as works created before and after. Her sculptures exist in a state of entropy, some in a state of flux and exposing their raw underbellies of foam, which she has typically masked with various materials that range from mortar to crushed glass. Monté constructs works examining these systems; their underlying importance, their invasiveness, and the future of such structures.

Unknown Road

Dates: October 11th - November 5th

Artist: Jon Obrycki

Born and raised in Seattle, I started out painting my old skate decks after they got too worn down.

I discovered wood burning in 2014 and have since combined the two passions.

My art is inspired by mythology and life experiences. Looking forward to continuing this journey down the unknown road.

A collection of paintings from 2023-2025 this work is an attempt to allow myself to paint outside the lines and embrace imperfection while experimenting with mediums and canvases. Many of these were created without a solid idea in mind letting the painting become what it wants to be.
